The choice of surgery that you opt for has to be based on a lot of thought, and a lot of research. Many people when they think of weight loss surgery jump to the conclusion that it's just the gastric band, and nothing else. Once you are post op, you will be astonished how people will automatically assume you have a band, no matter what you have had !
I have listed above the different surgical options that you can chose from. They are all very different and designed to suit the different reasons weight has been gained, through over eating or through eating too much sugar, or a hormonal reason.
Please take your time to make sure you select the right surgery for you. It should not be a financial decision, although I can fully understand this, but it should be a surgery that you can live with, and achieve your weight loss goals. If you have any questions that you need answered then please feel free to contact me to talk it through. Getting the right surgery for you is so important, and I will happily help guide you to a reasoned decision. Your GP and your surgeon will also help you with this. Ultimately your surgeon will discuss what he feels is the best surgery for you but it has to be the one you can live with because it's your body !
I am an advocate of traveling to Belgium to get your surgery done, and this is why. It's not because it's cheaper, it is because when you take a close look at the surgical skills and credentials of surgeons like Bruno Dillemans, you will see that they are so much more experienced at bariatric surgery. The price IS cheaper but by no means does this indicate a reduction of quality of surgery, it indicates that they simply don't have the same overheads as the UK surgeons.
